War Scrap—that we may have peace
On a trip to Laos, John Steinmetz was so overcome by the sight of craters and bomb casings littering the countryside–the remants of a secret campaign–that he was moved to make a musical statement on war. A few years later, I felt compelled by another impending war to do the same. With this CD, we want to deepen the dialogue that these artistic commentaries are a part of. Certainly, one of many reasons we need to find ways to solve problems without waging war is so that human life will continue, one generation to the next. Thus, Larry Lipkis’s piece on that very subject is a perfect extension of this dialogue.
