Welcoming Two Young Violinists

Pacific Serenades welcomes two young violinists, Ji Young An and Ambroise Aubrun, to our ensemble for this concert. Both recently finished DMA degrees at UCLA, studying violin with Guillaume Sutre, and they also crossed paths in Paris, where Ji Young moved at age 13 from her native Korea and where Ambroise moved from his hometown of Nice. At the Conservatoire national supérieur de musique et de danse de Paris, Ji Young studied with Olivier Charlier and Ambroise with Roland Daugareil and Serge Pataud, and both studied chamber music with Marc Coppey. Ji Young and Ambroise each won the Conservatory’s first prize in their own graduation years, and Ambroise went on to study at the Paris Conservatory with Suzane Gessner. At UCLA, they both studied and performed chamber music with Guillaume Sutre, Movses Pogossian, Richard O’Neill, and Antonio Lysy. (And Mr. Pogossian thinks so highly of Ji Young that he chose her as his replacement during his recent sabbatical from teaching at UCLA).

They continue to be avid performers of chamber music, as evidenced by their participation in festivals and series, for example, the Taos School of Music Festival and the Maurice Ravel Academy (Ji Young), and Festival de Loudun, Dilijan Chamber Music Series, and Banff, (Ambroise), and Incontri in terra di Sienna (both), and both have been featured in Sundays Live at LACMA.
