Violinist Ji Young An began her musical training on the piano at the age of 5, switching to violin at the age of 11. At the age of 13, she moved to Paris, France to continue her musical studies. In 2007, Ji Young graduated from the Conservatoire national supérieur de musique et de danse de Paris where she studied violin with Olivier Charlier, obtaining the conservatory’s first prize and following it up with a year of specializing in chamber music under Marc Coppey. Furthering her studies in the US, Ji Young has received full scholarships from UCLA for her Master’s and DMA studies, under the tutelage of Guillaume Sutre. She has attended several prestigious festivals including the Taos School of Music and the Maurice Ravel Academy, and has also participated in several masterclasses with renowned artists such as Midori Goto, Martin Chalifour, and Renaud Capuçon. Ji Young has been in great demand as a guest performer and lecturer for the afternoon concert series at Pierce College and has recently served as Lecturer of Violin at the UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music, replacing Professor Movses Pogossian during his sabbatical.
